The Mount Olive Public Library is happy to provide a home for all our local scout groups! We can provide meeting spaces for various scout troops and their affiliated parent groups. We are also open to any project ideas that both serve the library and also help scouts achieve their next level of achievement.
Services Offered for Scouts and Scouting Events
- Meeting room – Rooms are available for scout troops, scout leaders and scout parents who need a space to conduct meetings not involving the troop itself.
- Activity room – Rooms are available for scout troops needing a space to conduct workshops, events or any activity involving the troop itself
- Badge projects – Applications are accepted for any scout project that can service the library or the library community. Acceptance of major projects are subject to approval by the Library Director and Mt. Olive Library Board of Trustees.
- Library sponsored projects – Scouts may participate in library-sponsored projects when available. These projects are geared toward scouts who are looking to achieve service awards but are lacking project ideas. Due to staffing limitations, library sponsored projects may not be readily available at all times.
Before submitting your program proposal, here are few things to remember…
1. The library plans programs months ahead of time and receives many competitive program proposals along with conducting their own. We do our best to accommodate every applicant/program but time and space limitations often hinder our ability to provide resources for every request.
2. Presenters are expected to fully develop their own program; library staff is not available to assist in developing the program, nor to create graphics, slideshow presentations, or handouts. However, we will assist promoting upcoming event(s) on our social media, website and in person.
3. Each application will be considered and scheduled via the Library’s Scout Coordinator. *Parents and scouts should not make their own program appointment but instead defer to scout leaders. Parents, scouts and scout leaders should not schedule events with other departments of the library outside of the Library Scout Coordinator.
4. Specific dates for Scout visits are offered based on staff and room availability. The Scout Coordinator will respond to requests and coordinate all dates and times.
